Retrospective on the 65th Conference of the German Society of Agronomy at the Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg
From September 23 to 25, 2025, the 65th conference of the German Society of Agronomy took place at Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg under the motto “Planetary boundaries: rising to the challenges ahead.” With 220 participants and over 100 presentations and 100 posters covering all areas of agronomy, the program was extensive. The program included four high-level plenary lectures and presentations on the GPW Future award. Dr. Ludwig Riedesel won the Future award, worth €2,500, with his contribution on the mutual influence of cereal cultivation and climate change. The prize for the best poster went to Merlin Zimmermann for his impressive poster on the prediction of crop parameters in field beans from UAV-supported multispectral data. During the general meeting, Prof. Dr. Hartmut Stützel was awarded honorary membership for his outstanding services to plant production sciences. In addition to the lecture and poster sessions, the traditional social evening at the Krug zum grünen Kranze in Halle (Saale) provided an opportunity for personal discussions and networking. We would like to express our sincere thanks to the local organizing team, whose dedication, smooth planning, and attention to detail made this conference possible. This year's conference once again demonstrated the dynamism and innovative strength of our society. We look forward to continuing the discussions we have started at the next conference and tackling the challenges of the future together. The next conference of the German Society of Agronomy is expected to take place from September 7-9, 2027, at the University of Hohenheim. With warm regards, The Board of the German Society of Agronomy.
